Ja fa tres anys que Ezra Furman va editar el magnífic All of Us Flames (2022), gravació posicionada en el número dos dels MILLORS ALBUMS DE 2022, i ara torna amb aquest nou disc que defineix en part com:

"...variacions de l'experiència de perdre completament el control, ja sigui per debilitat, malaltia, misticisme, BDSM, drogues, desamor o simplement vivint en una societat malalta amb els ulls oberts".

Des de la solemnitat, el dramatisme i ho histriònic, la veu de Furman és cabdal en aquest treball i que dins del so indie actual pot recordar al Bowie dels inicis, la Velvet, el Glam dels setanta o la influència de Lou Reed molt notòria en aquest bon tema, Power of the Moon.

Tristan Armstrong de Toronto i que se'l coneix per formar part dels The Actual Goners ara s'estrena en aquest exquisit àlbum al seu nom. 

Power pop, alguns temes acústics (com aquest magnífic del clip amb brillant final de guitarra i melodia) i pop rock amb energia es presenten en The Lonely Avenue que ja des d'ara és un dels favorits d'elquartblog a estar en la llista dels millors de l'any.

Fa ja vint-i-sis anys que el grup de Gal·les  liderat per Kelly Jones va treure el seu primer (bé era el segon , però és el que els va donar a conèixer) disc, titulat Performance And Cocktails (1999), des de llavors els vaig seguir un parell d'àlbums per posteriorment perdre el contacte amb les noves gravacions fins el dia d'avui que he quedat prou satisfet amb aquest nou treball i especialment amb cançons com There's Always Gonna Be Something.

Per moments recorden els Manic Street Preachers (evident amb Make It Your Own) , com també podrien estar en l'òrbita d'un Paul Weller o coetanis com els Travis.
